Your Chichester Art Tour starts with a special morning private guided tour of Chichester Cathedral. Fine art, medieval wall paintings and sculpture reliefs feature alongside Victorian glass work and contemporary religious art of the highest quality.
After lunch a private visit to the Pallant House Gallery. This fantastic art gallery is housed in what is considered to be one of the most important 18th century townhouses in England and has one of the best collections of 20th-century British art in the world.

10.00am Art Tour Of Chichester Cathedral

This special private guided art tour of the cathedral includes works by modern artists such as Henry Moore, Graham Sutherland and John Piper. Your expert guide will take you through the development of what is recognised as ‘Religious Art’ from when the cathedral was built 900 years ago up to the present times of the start of the 21st century.

10.45am Coffee And Cake

Time for a break, freshen up and get ready for the second and very special half of your morning private guided tour of the cathedral.

11.20am

The second part of your private guided tour of the Cathedral will also include the Bishop’s Chapel and the Sherbourne Room in the Bishop’s Palace. It is called the Sherbourne Room after this particular wing of the palace was built in the mid 16th century during Bishop Robert Sherbourne’s time. It is renowned for its magnificent ceiling and for now housing the surviving Amberely Panels by Lambert Barnard (c 1490-1567)

1pm Lunch

We want you to enjoy everything about your day with us and this includes a wonderful 2 course meal at a fantastic restaurant in the heart of Chichester. You will not be disappointed!

3pm Guided Tour Of Pallant House Gallery

The art gallery is a short walk from the restaurant and a company representative will accompany you there. You will hook up with your guide for a private tour of the gallery. Particular attention will be paid to the paintings and the history behind them that Walter Hussey bequeathed to the gallery.

4.00pm ish Teatime

Time for a nice pot of tea and scones at Pallant House Gallery.

Who Is This Tour For?

This tour is best suited for adults in private groups, minimum 4 people and up to 6 people.

The tour involves a fair amount of walking and climbing spiral staircases at the cathedral. It is therefore not suitable for persons with reduced mobility.

When Is The Tour?

This tour starts in April 2022 and can be booked everyday year round, except for Sundays and Mondays or when the cathedral is being used for events.

WHERE DOES THE TOUR START FROM?

This tour starts from Chichester city centre. You can either make your own way to Chichester, or we can arrange transport for you. Chichester is about 1hour 40 minutes from London.
